Ca’n Beneït Rural Agrotourism Estate, Authentic Mallorca
We have a variety of accommodations to ensure a memorable stay, whether alone, as a couple, or with family. Located in the Binibona valley, we are surrounded by some of the most charming towns in Mallorca and with easy access to the island's points of interest.
The story of our state in the mountains
With a history that delves into the Muslim era, the nomenclature of Binibona (from the Arabic “bini”, which means “farmstead” or “house of”) bears witness to the rich cultural heritage that persists since before the 13th century. After the conquest by King James I, he awarded the place to one of the knights who accompanied him, the Marquis de Palmer, and it is in this place full of history where our rural hotel, Ca’n Beneït, now stands, offering a unique experience that links past and present.
According to our grandparents, the heyday of the Binibona hamlet occurred in the first third of the 20th century. At that time there were about 30 inhabited houses and 10 scattered ones corresponding to the farms and neighboring areas. The main activity carried out by the residents and their means of subsistence was agriculture.
The majority of Binibona’s residents went to work in the capital and the main cities of the Island of Mallorca after the Spanish Civil War and World War II. The migration was driven by the intense labor required in agricultural work, the allure of the industrial revolution, and the ease of obtaining more lucrative and better-paid jobs in more urban areas.
It is at the end of the 20th century when Binibona resurfaces thanks to the reconstruction of the ruined houses by their new inhabitants. This reconstruction is due both to the creation of second homes and the conversion of old farms into agrotourisms and rural hotels.
The founding family of the Ca’n Beneït estate transformed it into an agrotourism farm that they managed for 20 years. Today, a new generation of hoteliers specialized in rural tourism continues to manage the rural hotel, but they have not lost contact with the initial family, who remain linked to the estate, the agricultural operation, livestock production, and olive oil, which continues to be produced in the almazara.
